Good Morning,

Construction Notice for underground sanitary sewer main installation at Woodlawn Road and Woolwich/Highway 6 N. There will be major traffic restrictions.

This work will commence on or about Sept. 8 and continue for approx. 2 weeks, weather permitting.

This notice has been delivered in the area directly affected. Emergency Services and other City staff whose operations may be affected have also been advised.

The project:

This project is being undertaken by Greenfield Contracting under contract to the City of Guelph. The work will entail the removal of the pavement, the installation of an underground sanitary sewer main, and the restoration of the pavement once the main is installed and tested. All work will take place in the City right–of–way.

Construction is expected to start September 8, 2015 and continue for approximately two weeks, weather permitting.

Major traffic restrictions :

There will be lane reductions, through-road closures and turning restrictions as follows:

September 8–9 and 18-25

  • No through access for eastbound Woodlawn Road traffic past Woolwich Street/Highway 6 North intersection (traffic must turn left onto Highway 6 North or right onto Woolwich Street)
  • No right (eastward) turn from Woolwich Street onto Woodlawn Road East
  • No left (eastward) turn from Highway 6 North onto Woodlawn Road East
  • No access to 777 Woodlawn Road East from Woodlawn road; plaza must be accessed from Woolwich Street

September 10-17

Woodlawn2

  • No left turns in any direction at the Woodlawn Road and Woolwich Street/Highway 6 North intersection
  • Woolwich Street northbound traffic will end at the entrance to 777 Woolwich Street: there will be no right or left turn onto Woodlawn Road, no through access to Woodlawn via the plaza, and no through access to Highway 6 North
  • No through access or left turn for eastbound Woodlawn Road traffic past Woolwich Street/Highway 6 North intersection: traffic must turn right onto Woolwich Street
  • No access to 777 Woodlawn Road East from Woodlawn road, plaza entry and exit via Woolwich Street only
  • All businesses on Woolwich Street between Speedvale Avenue and Woodlawn Road are accessible from Woolwich Street (northbound and southbound)

Traffic detours:

Note that increased volumes of traffic are expected along Woolwich Street and Speedvale Avenue. This may lead to long delays, especially at the Speedvale/Woolwich intersection. Please plan accordingly.

September 8–9 and 18-25

  • Those accessing points east of Woolwich Street on Woodlawn Road East should travel eastward on Speedvale Avenue East to Victoria Road, turn left (north) onto Victoria Road, then turn left (west) onto Woodlawn Road East.
  • Those accessing the Canadian Tire/Staples plaza from Woolwich Street should travel north across Woodlawn Road onto Highway 6 North and use the plaza entrance on the right.
  • Those accessing the plaza at 777 Woolwich Street must enter and exit the plaza from the Woolwich Street entrances. The Woodlawn Road entrance/exit will be closed.

September 10-17

  • Those accessing points north of Woodlawn Road on Highway 6 North should take Speedvale Avenue West to Silvercreek Parkway North, turn right (north) onto Silvercreek, then turn right (east) onto Wellington County Road 30 (Marden Road) and continue to Highway 6 North
  • Those continuing from the Hanlon Expressway to Highway 6 North should exit the Hanlon at Woodlawn Road West, travel east to Silvercreek Parkway, turn left (north) onto Silvercreek, then turn right (east) onto Wellington County Road 30 (Marden Road) and continue to Highway 6 North
  • Those accessing points east of Woolwich Street on Woodlawn Road East, including the Canadian Tire/Staples plaza, should take Speedvale Avenue eastward to Victoria Road, turn left onto Victoria Road and travel north to Woodlawn Rod, then travel west on Woodlawn Road East to destination
  • Those accessing the plaza at 777 Woolwich Street must enter and exit the plaza from the Woolwich Street entrances. The Woodlawn Road entrance/exit will be closed.
  • Those accessing the Smart Centre (Wal-mart etc.) or Home Depot should travel west on Speedvale Avenue West to Edinburgh Road North, turn right (north) onto Edinburgh, then turn right (east) Woodlawn Road West

Guelph Transit:

Transit routes 2A/2B and 3A/3B will be detoured during the construction period. Visit guelphtransit.ca for information about stop changes and route detours.

City Services:

There will be no interruptions to City any other services throughout the construction period. Waste collection will not be impacted by the construction. If applicable, please continue to place your green blue and grey carts at the curb as per your regular schedule.
