Yesterday morning I found out that Fire Chief Shawn Armstrong accepted a job up in the city of Kingston. I want to wish him all the best! He’s been here serving the community for many years.
Chief Armstrong joined the City of Guelph in 1995 as Deputy Fire Chief and became the City’s Fire Chief in 1997. In his role as Fire Chief, Shawn has been responsible for Emergency Planning, Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and the operations of the Guelph Fire Department. He has led the City of Guelph to become one of only four organizations in Canada to achieve internationally recognized accreditation status, Certified Fire Service Accreditation, (CRAI) affiliated with International Standards Organization (ISO).
Shawn’s last day with the City of Guelph is November 27, 2015.
I’m really going to miss him.
