I was very pleased to offer congratulations on behalf of the City of Guelph to our new recruits for the fire department!

This is a proud day for them and their families.

It’s the culmination of a lot of hard work and intensive training. It’s the culmination of the decision to serve the people of this community.

By wearing the fire fighter’s uniform, they’ve committed to helping make Guelph a safer and more secure place. It’s a tremendous commitment!

I also wanted to take a moment to thank the families there today.

They supported their loved ones in their choice of career, and throughout their training. They played an important role in bringing them to this moment.

That support will be a key part of their success throughout their career with the Guelph Fire Department.

These five are well-trained and well-prepared as they embark on their duties.

Thank you for deciding to serve our community in this way. I wish them all the best as they begin their career as a member of the Guelph Fire Department.
