@TransitnGuelph AGM Jan 19th at #Guelph City Hall

I just received an email from Transition Guelph telling me about the upcoming AGM to be held here at city hall on Jan 19th. It looks quite interesting! Here’s their email:

Transition Guelph Celebrates It’s Annual Gathering!

On January 19th 2016, the members of Transition Guelph will gather for their annual general meeting at City Hall in Room 112. While some AGMs can be a bit dry and boring, Transition Guelph prefers to call their AGM an Annual Gathering where volunteers, members, project leaders, supporters, and friends can come together and celebrate the events of the previous year, looking forward to the upcoming events of the next year. They celebrate successes, learn from mistakes, and share the opinions as they reflect on the year that has passed.

This year, the group has been busy with many projects and working groups that have come together out of a shared desire to see our community become more resilient. There are a number of active projects from the last year including the Backyard Sharing Project, The Resilience Festival, Appleseed Collective, and Guelph Wellington Timebank. In addition, some new projects were launched over the year include the GROW Community Garden and Urban Sugaring Project.

During the Annual Gathering, folks will have a chance to learn more about Transition Guelph as an organization and the Transition movement that is taking place all over the world. It is an opportunity for friends to reconnect and new members to learn more about what is happening in our city around sustainable practices and resiliency. In addition, there will be a screening of the documentary “CONNECTED” by Paul Maple to learn more about how our food systems, economy, lifestyle, and environment are all connected as we learn to move to a post-carbon society. Discussion and snacks will follow, where members can share ideas and thoughts about how we can make change in our local community right now.
