Help clean up Guelph on April 23!

Register now for 13th annual Guelph Clean and Green Community Cleanup

Guelph, Ont., March 22, 2016 – On Saturday, April 23, the City of Guelph is hosting its 13th annual Guelph Clean and Green Community Cleanup—one of the city’s largest community environmental cleanup events.

The cleanup begins at 8:30 a.m. and ends with a free celebration barbecue lunch for all participants at noon in Riverside Park.

The event is an opportunity for residents to spend a few hours ‘spring cleaning’ their neighbourhood by joining others to pick up litter along Guelph’s streets, green spaces, and in community parks. Last year, more than 750 people picked up more than 3,000 kilograms of litter.

This year’s cleanup is once again open to everyone: individuals, teams, and neighbourhood and community groups. Participating high school students can earn credit towards their community involvement hours.

How to register

Participants must register in advance and sign up for a pre-determined location by completing the online registration form, emailing cleanandgreen@guelph.ca or calling 519-822-1260 extension 3305. Registration closes on Friday, April 15 at 4 p.m.

Participants will be provided with cleanup kits, available for pick up at 50 Municipal Street between Monday, April 18 and Wednesday, April 20.

Sponsors

The Downtown Guelph Business Association, JL’s Home Hardware, M&M Food Market, Terra View Homes, Zehrs, and Guelph and Wellington Development Association are sponsoring the citywide community cleanup.
