City Media Release:

Guelph’s DCAO of Public Services takes on role in Caledon

Guelph, ON, May 16, 2016–The City of Guelph regrets to announce that Deputy Chief Administrative Officer of Public Services, Derrick Thomson, will leave the City to join the Town of Caledon as its General Manager of Community Services, effective June 6, 2016.

“Derrick has told me this is the right move for him,” says Guelph’s Chief Administrative Officer Ann Pappert. “But that doesn’t mean we’ll miss him any less. Derrick has made several important contributions to our city in his time here. We’re sorry to see him go, and we wish him tremendous success in Caledon.”

Thomson joined the City of Guelph in 2013 as Executive Director, Community and Social Services.

“Working for the community of Guelph and with the talented men and women of this organization has been a privilege,” says Thomson. “My decision wasn’t easy. But at the end of the day, I’m looking forward to making a contribution in my home town. Caledon has been home to my family and me for several years. The chance to make a difference there is one I can’t turn down.”

“On behalf of our executive team and City staff, I’d like to thank Derrick for his contributions to both our corporation and the Guelph community,” Pappert says.

Thomson’s last day with the City of Guelph is June 3.
