lol the first skatepark? what of the ward skatepark and the skatepark that was torn down behind stephanie rd. my question is why did the city get rid of the park by stephanie? also why does the mayor not know of this?

Hi “Billy” the Ward skatepark is privately owned not a public asset (I support the Ward skatepark by the way), you’re right the temporary skatepark behind Stephanie was in for a while but in the wrong spot and conflicted heavily with the neighbourhood quickly. Being a temporary one, it was easily moved and into storage. The Silvercreek Skatepark is our first permanent park and has been long awaited for about 20 years. So yeah, I do “know of this”. Thanks for commenting on my blog and asking questions!

Looking good! All it needs is a drinking fountain / place to fill up a water bottle! This would benefit both the skateboard park and the beach volleyball courts, as well as anyone using the park for hiking or walking dogs. It would also cut down on litter and promote re-usable water containers.

Love this! Great job Mayor Guthrie and town staff. This will be enjoyed for generations of Guelph youth and make a positive difference in our community. The location is perfect. Right along Wellington Road at Royal City Park where it will be safe for all. Well done 👍

Did anyone give any thought to where people will park when there is beach volleyball on. Not likely. I’m sure there were other locations that could have made sense. I think it’s a great idea for the people who will use this skate park. Just don’t think parking for a multi use facility was taken into consideration.

I will say that you will probably be right. Especially when first opening up. But fun none the less!
