Position of Deputy CAO for #Guelph Public Services Filled for @CityofGuelph!

Colleen Clack appointed as City’s newest DCAO:

Guelph, Ont., June 16, 2016 – Colleen Clack, who has served as the City of Guelph’s general manager, Culture, Tourism and Community Investment for the past six years, has been appointed by the Executive Team as the City’s newest deputy chief administrative officer (DCAO) of Public Services. In her new position, Clack will oversee Culture, Tourism and Community Investment, Emergency Services, Guelph Transit, Operations, and Parks and Recreation.

“I know I speak for the entire Executive Team when I say I’m thrilled Colleen has accepted this position,” said Guelph CAO, Derrick Thomson. “I’ve had the privilege of working with Colleen for a number of years and look forward to having her as part of the Executive Team to lead our corporation and community to many successes.”

Clack’s appointment to the position comes after it was vacated by Thomson, who became the City’s chief administrative officer last week.

“Council looks forward to working with Colleen in her new capacity as DCAO. We have always been impressed with her ability to get things done, her leadership of her teams, and her exemplary dedication to public service,” said Mayor Cam Guthrie.

Clack joined the City of Guelph in 2007 as the facility manager for River Run Centre. In 2010 she took on the general manager position which includes oversight for Sleeman Centre, River Run Centre, Guelph Museums, Cultural Affairs and Tourism, and Community Investment. In recent years she has worked in the DCAO, Public Services position (formerly the executive director of Community and Social Services) several times in an acting capacity. She has also served as interim general manager of Recreation and Parks.

“As a corporation we believe in promoting excellence,” added Thomson. “Colleen has the experience and knowledge that will lead the Public Services team as our city grows. She is an outstanding hire for this important position.” added Thomson.

Clack holds a Bachelor of Arts, Honours Applied Studies from the University of Waterloo. She lives in Guelph with her husband and two daughters.

Clack’s appointment takes effect immediately.
