City publishes quarterly updates on large construction projects:

Guelph, Ont., July 14, 2016 – Quarterly updates that include budget and progress status are now publicly available for three of the City’s major capital projects.

“Consistent public reporting is one aspect of our commitment to evolve our project management practices on large-scale construction projects,” said Scott Stewart, Deputy Chief Administrative Officer of Infrastructure, Development and Enterprise Services. “We’re accountable to manage these projects well and that involves routinely communicating the status of the schedule and budget.”

The updates are available for the City’s capital projects that are considered complex and high risk, based on a number of factors that include price. These factors are listed in a tiered classification framework for project management standards, developed by the City’s Project Management Office.

The three projects that fit within the Tier 1 category are the Guelph Police Service headquarters renovation, the Victoria Road Recreation Centre renovations, and the Wilson Street reconstruction and parkade.

All the Tier 1 projects are on schedule and within budget, as of the end of June. The quarterly updates are available below and on each of the project’s guelph.ca webpages.

The next update on these projects will be available early in October.

The City is currently developing project management standards for its high risk Tier 1 projects. Once in place, standards will then be developed for the Tier 2 and 3 projects. This work is led by the City’s Project Management Office and based on recommendations from Deloitte’s Capital Projects Risk Assessment and the City’s internal Complex Capital Projects Committee.

Quarterly updates:

Guelph Police Service headquarters renovation – Project Update Q2, 2016
Victoria Road Recreation Centre renovations – Project Update Q2, 2016
