Ron MacLean, Tara Slone to broadcast live on Sportsnet from Market Square April 2

Guelph, Ont., September 7, 2016 – Hockey fans in Guelph will get to experience the game they love when Rogers Hometown Hockey makes a tour stop in the Royal City next April.
Guelph, one of 24 Canadian communities selected by Rogers, will host the country’s “ultimate hockey festival” on April 1 and 2 in Market Square. The tour stop coincides with the 2016-17 NHL broadcasting schedule on Sportsnet.
The two-day festival features family-friendly activities and celebrations that include music, National Hockey League alumni, local heroes, and entertainment. Saturday’s festival is from noon to 6 p.m. and on the Sunday from noon until the end of the NHL broadcast viewing party that evening. More details will be announced closer to the event date.
Fans can also take in an outdoor viewing party on the Sunday evening at 6:30 p.m. ET when the NHL’s Vancouver Canucks take on the San Jose Sharks in Vancouver. Ron MacLean, best known as co-host of Hockey Night in Canada, will co-host live with Tara Slone from the Sportsnet Mobile Studio.
“I’m thrilled that Guelph has been chosen to host this amazing celebration of Canada’s game. As the city where the term “hat-trick” originated, we have always been proud of our hockey roots,” says Mayor Cam Guthrie. “I can’t wait for our city to show the whole country our incredible community spirit and pride.”
