And Then There Were 3! #Guelph

Finalists selected for art project:

Guelph, Ont., February 21, 2018 – Three finalists out of 53 applicants have been chosen for the next stage of the Wilson Street art project; they are:

One artist/team from the selected three will create an art piece for the corner of Wilson Street and Gordon Street just below the highly anticipated Wilson Street Parkade. The final art installation is a part of the Wilson Street reconstruction project.

“We were overwhelmed with the response to our call for artists and are thrilled with the final three selections,” says Stacey Dunnigan, Manager of culture and tourism. “Each of these candidates has an opportunity to change the face of a very popular entrance in to our downtown. We’re excited to see what each of them brings to the table.”

There are two final stages to complete in the process:

1 In stage two, each artist or team will receive a $1,500 honorarium to develop a proposal, prepare a physical model and/or renderings of the artwork, provide a budget and timeline and attend an interview with the selection committee where they can present their work.

2 In the third and final stage, the Wilson Street Selection Committee will recommend a finalist to the City’s Council-appointed Public Art Advisory Committee. This committee will decide whether or not to accept the project.
