#Guelph Update Regarding Potential Flooding

Update from staff as of 10:45am:

As you are all aware, there are currently significant flooding issues throughout the Grand River corridor.  The City of Brantford has declared a State of Emergency and has begun to evacuate certain residential areas.  The City of Cambridge did have to activate their EOC overnight due to impact on water supply and significant road and bridge closures.  Throughout the region, there are many road closures due to flooding.

At this time, we are closely monitoring conditions within the City of Guelph.  We have not had any road closures to date, but safety remains our top priority and we will monitor closely over the next 24 – 28 hours until the flood waters begin to recede.

The issues experienced by Cambridge and Brantford are because of their location downstream along the Grand River corridor.  At this time, we do not anticipate any similar issues here in Guelph but will keep you posted if that changes.

Thank you,

Cam
