THE GUELPH COMMUNITY SANTA PARADE WELCOMES THE SANTA ROAD RACE:

Sunday November 15th

Early arrivals to the 2015 Guelph Community Santa Parade will be in for a treat this year.  The inaugural Santa Road Race will follow the route of the parade at approximately 1pm and runners will all be dressed as Santa.  Organized by the Speed River Track & Field Club with all proceeds going to Big Brothers Big Sisters, registrations for this 3km fun run will be open right up until race day.

Not enough Santa for you ? Stick around for the parade !  Canada Post and the Guelph Food Bank kick off at 1.15pm so bring those letters to Santa and non-perishable items.  The parade proper starts at 1.30pm from Woolwich Street at Powell Street, ending on Wyndham Street at Carden Street.  See the parade route map here.

You can look forward to all kinds of entertainment, from the traditional (such as marching bands, including one from GCVI), and the exciting (dance groups, acrobatics, and hand drumming) to the downright wacky (festive chickens and minions).

A special feature to look out for will be the brand new Seussical Santa float, built by the Children’s Art Factory.  Melissa Mazar, creator of the float, says “I drew inspiration from Dr Seuss’ illustrations of musical instruments.  With help of some elves from the GCVI Improv group, it’s going to be a busy and animated float.  Santa loves it and so will you !”

Parade organizers, the Downtown Guelph Business Association, together with over 100 volunteers, will get floats in line on the day, keep the crowds safe, or don costumes and entertain the thousands of spectators.  Join us Sunday November 15th for entertainment, spectacle and seasonal fun !
