Cold does not even describe what I felt when I jumped in that pool. It was heart-stopping-lung-sucking-feet-falling-off great!
The Guelph community really rallied around this cause! From what I’ve heard the goal was surpassed and close to 30,000 was raised!
Daniel Atlin & Brenda Whiteside from the UofG were super brave and jumped in just after me!
I’d really like to say a big thanks to all the sponsors of this event. Dominique O’Rourke, Police Chief Jeff DeRuyter and Cst. Chris Probst along with so many others have really stepped up to help the Special Olympics Ontario Games land in our city this May!
Here’s Dominique with the pool all set up and ready to go with 1 degree temp (at best)!
I also heard there was around 150 plungers today. I saw so many students from the UofG lining up too!
The Chief was trying to walk on water apparently!
The Spring Special Olympics Games is going to be great! They’re still looking for more sponsors and volunteers! Please consider contacting Dominique for further info!
Now I’m going to to finish my hot chocolate by my fireplace.
