Guelph and the surrounding area is a diverse community with a wealth of cultural heritage. To celebrate this rich heritage, the Guelph & District Multicultural Festival began as a downtown event organized by the Multicultural Centre (now Immigrant Services Guelph-Wellington) in 1978. The Festival was held annually for 10 years, until after a brief hiatus, it was revived and moved to Riverside Park 18 years ago where it continues to grow to include more activities, food vendors, craft vendors and performances. The Festival thrives because of the participation and contributions of local community groups.
